OldManComanche
I would be more worried about waiting in line and the gas gauge close to empty! My truck starts running out of gas about there.

omega_rugal
you may have a bad fanclutch, do you have the aux efan already?
87MJJeep
That is about where my gauge is hitting if I idle too long, but the first time I noticed it, it almost got to the red. I had no idea the aux efan was not coming on. Then until today, I would just turn the AC on and it seemed to everytime force the aux efan to run and the temp would come down within a couple of minutes. I tried that late today, and it didn't kick the fan on.
thecodemonk
Short answer: yes. An auxiliary electric fan will help the engine stay cooler by providing myoe airflow over the radiator. Make sure everything is properly shrouded. My MJs previous owner had set it up on a manual switch, since I didn't have AC on the truck, and there was a good difference between how cool it stayed with and without it at low speeds (doesn't help above like, 50)Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk

I do not have an auxiliary fan just the fan clutch its a zj fan clutch from oreilly two months old, new water pump too, the bit of heat was only showing at idle while waiting in line1989 4.0RenixScratchy Ba/102wdStock Short bed base

Pete M
97+ XJ fan is a better design than the older one. also get a fan shroud if yours is broken or missing.
