DravenBoris
Alright did a full cluster swap on my 88. Prior, my gas guage worked. Now, the gauge is stuck at half. When I like tap the needle it just goes back to half, the low fuel light works properly at the right levels. Secondly, I swapped the sensors for temp and oil. The oil works great but the temp doesn’t move from zero. It’ll cycle left to right when I’m starting, but it’s the only one that does that. Never shows a temp reading. jdog
What year did the gauges come out of? Which temp sender did you replace? A quick check for the temp gauge, ground out the temp wire that goes to the sender on the back of the head, if it goes hot it's probably a bad sender. As for the fuel, do you mean it only work from half to empty?

Doesn’t go up doesn’t go down. But the Fuel light come on at the right level( I fill up when it comes on always at the level the light should come on) But the needle doesn’t move from half. With nothing over the guages if I poke the needle with my finger it just moves back to half. temo guage has the right sender i checked part numbers and I’ve tried two of them. When I start the needl goes from left to tight and back left once running but then never moves again. I used no Teflon tape anywhere
jdog
ok, so you replaced the temp sensor on the back of the head, just trying to verify has these have two temp sensors. as for the fuel gauge it sounds like a bad gauge to me, if you would can you un-plug and re-plug the connections on the back of the cluster. I know they suck to do but if they don't go in just right it screws with the fuel gauge

Ωhm
Coolant Gauge Disconnect C104. On the Engine Harness side, ground C104_J. KEY ON. Look for gauge to peg HOT.
eaglescout526
Have you removed the gas gauge from the cluster to see if theres any damage to any of the copper winding?

I didn’t see any in this one but the three quarter guage I had was damage. Is there anyway to fix that besides buying a new guage?

I’m sure I’ll be able to find it but you got a pic of this connector?

Is there anyway to fix that besides buying a new guage? Well I would check the wires to each of the gauges prongs just in case someone over tightened the gauge if they got into it. I had a 3/4 fuel gauge go bad on me and I accidentally over tightened one of the screws and it broke a copper wire that connected the winding to the gauge. Just something to look for. I fixed it by soldering it back.
