rylee144
My 88 has leaky wing windows. Should I or can I switch to a 96 and older with full windows, do they exist? So my blue door card still works or do I get a 97+ door and paint the interior to match? Has anyone had the issue of what to do to get back to the same interior color? jdog
unless you like the smokers window, replace it with solid windows, iirc no full windows before
Ls2xjcomanche
I was thinking about trying this. 97-01 XJ glass into an older XJ or MJ.
rylee144
Do they make 97+ doors with non power windows ?

rylee144
For some reason I want non power. Maybe its because I haven't researched adding power windows.
Minuit
Easier to just switch the wing assemblies out for ones that don't pivot. About a 15 minute job including taking the door card off. Unless you're dead set on having full windows.
rylee144
Easy fix huh? And they don't leak? There is a set on Ebay for 60. That would be easier.
jdog
Had a xj with the wing windows, had $0.52 in each latch to keep it from leaking, ended up switching to solids after someone broke the window to steal it. solid windows in the mj and no leaks, if you use the wing windows a-lot you notice the missing airflow at first but the benefits of no leaks a little more rewarding. Nope, the fixed ones don't have the same problem with leaks. You might get a little wind whistle if the weatherstripping along the leading edge is worn out or not installed properly, but it's extremely rare for them to leak water. You might want to use some silicone lube on the new ones when you install them. The weatherstripping can be very tight, which is a good thing but can make it hard to install.
