i have already asked if the Renix TBI can be bolted to a 4.0, apparently yes, in that case, wring the map, the intake air temp sensor, coolant temp sensor and O2 sensor is posible to run the 4.0 with the TBI? or will the mixture be to lean for it?

Did you put a 2.5L Throttle body....on a 4.0L intake manifold? Doesn't matter. It won't run. You would need a 2.5L wiring harness and computer to run the TBI injector and it might run but seriously doubt it would handle any load. Might die as soon as you turn on the AC.

Well.......that's not the way to look at the question.

All automakers produced straight sixes well into the 80s with single barrel carbs, CI equivalent to 4.0L.

2.5's TBI is nothing more than a modern single barrel electronically controlled carb.

Will the 2.5 ECU recognize the Renix 4.0 flywheel? IDK but probably.

How it will, if it will, control ignition is anyone's guess? You can always go with a stand alone ignition/distributor.

Will it run? Eh, probably.

Injectors are interchangeable with any GM 90s TBI, you'd have to do your homework (injector flow rates) but I suspect you'd be better off adapting a GM 2 barrel rather than a single.

I'm all for ingenuity, out of the box thinking.......however.........spend your energies elsewhere. This one is a dead end road.

FWIW, TBI is the way to go over MPI, but performance TBI, not this crap.

i don´t want performance, just a way to limp on gasoline if i run out of propane... i did yesterday, and it´s a pain in the azz, TBI it´s simpler setup... but a single barrel carb will do the same trick if i make an adapter... yeah, that will do...

Well, there's your adapter.

Go for it.

Reviving this thread to understand what exactly I'm looking at here. It's cool looking.
