Freshening up an AW4

Recommended Posts

before buying a lot of parts I would drop the pan and see what might have caused the cable to kink, at the dealership I changed a lot of screens on trans with normal use regardless of mileage and have NEVER seen a dirty screen or ever seen one of these trans fail to the point of needing rebuilt. In my opinion THE BEST auto I have ever been around

Do I just drop the pan or do I have to drop the valve body too?

Just the pan. The 4wd trans I got didn't have the cable so I pulled the 2wd one and used it. Real PITA to get it installed.

Does anybody have a link tova kit or all the seals to replace before I swap this transmission in?

I did a fluid and filter change and no difference.
So I'm gonna swap in another tranny but wanna freshen it up also. (As the original post stated)

I'm found a place that has the 3 solenoids, a filter and gasket for $50.
So just need the seals now.

Well I checked Chrysler for an overhaul and rebuild kit and all they show for the AW4 is service component parts. So there are no kits on Chryslers end. Thought I would check for ya.
Thanks. I've emailed a few places that sell complete rebuild kits and seals and gaskets but didnt know if anybody had any other places or easier links to find.
I'm sure I could get them from advanced auto or other parts store too...
