late model steering components on early MJs

any reason why this wouldn't work on an 87 or 88?  tierod ends tapered the same?

It should fit fine. My truck has all ZJ steering and everything fits perfect. The picture just looks like the ZJ set up.

I'd concur.  I have a mix of late model ZJ and XJ stuff on mine, which has an 87 front axle.  It works fine.

A few years back I swapped the steering on my MJ (1987) for all ZJ (with the V8) stuff. The only thing is that I couldn't adjust my steering wheel to straight again because the point ran out of adjustment. Otherwise, everything fit and worked fine. So that would be my only cautionary tale.
