krustyballer16
What color were the rollbars from the factory? Gloss, semi gloss, matte, flat black? Gonna get a lwb one powdercoated and want it somewhat correct. I was gonna go with semi gloss black but all thr ones I've seen are closer to matte/ flat black. Wasnt sure if they were faded or what... Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Jeep Driver
I would figure it would be the same sheen as the bumpers.........matte is what I would call it.

MJXJjeepguy
I vote for semi gloss after I take a close look in one of thread Link: Sport bar color idea Seem like factory semi gloss but after years and years as we see it today it seem like faded away turn in to matte as i looked in google
DesertRat1991
I agree that it should match the bumpers. Take a look at the NOS bumper pics in the thread below. The original finish looks like semi-gloss.
krustyballer16
Semi gloss it is. Especially since that's the most used black here. They can run it with production parts Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Jeep Driver
Look at sample first. All depends on perception. To some.........matte is a semi and semi is a gloss and gloss is a hi-gloss. To some this is a semigloss.........to me this is a matte- I know what they look like in real life.
Jeep Driver
Also beware: that is if you are serious about color coordination- Paint a bumper semi today and in one year it may fade closer to a matte. Powder coating does not fade like a black paint will. A matte powder coat and a semi paint may look identical in a year or so.
Jeep Driver
Last thought- I'm painting all of my trim with base coat black- no clear. I'll end up with a soft-semi in the beginning knowing that it will fade to matte in a year or so and will have be repainted in a couple of years. Specifically for something like a roll bar, I don't want it to talk back to me..........should not be the highlight of the truck.........muted, there but in the background. "Flat" clears will milk out the color.......just so you know, that's why no clear.

Jeep Driver
Just pointing out what I was pointing to- That sheen is closer to a gloss- what most automotive clears will look like. On a freshly painted black truck that bar will look great. For someone wanting to match a toned-down black trim......bumpers and vent covers, maybe flairs.....etc.......that bar isn't even close. Matte is closer to a 'semi' in powder coat than is what powder coat people call a semi. Just know what you are asking for.
Jeep Driver
Matte finish in powder coat. Which BTW, is pretty close to what a new factory bumper would look like.
