Dual diaphragm brake upgrade

Recommended Posts

My 88 Comanche has crappy low brakes. I’m considering doing the dual diaphragm brake booster and master off of a 95/96 XJ like I did on my 87 XJ I had years ago. I remember my problem was brake light switch. I can’t remember which one to use?

I used a WJ booster and master but was having trouble getting the WJ style brake switch to work properly, so I cut off the WJ one and welded the original one in its place with a new brake switch. This also took care of the slight pedal height issue it had.

When I get around to doing the WJ swap I plan on doing something similar to Dasbulliwagen. However, I am going to use a die to cut threads on both the WJ brake arm and the piece cut from the original. That way I can use the stock brake light switch and literally dial in my pedal height. I figure to use a coupler and drill & tap it for two sets screws to keep things from moving when all is said and done. Also this way I don't have to mentally worry about my welding skills (which absolutely suck).
