watchamakalit
I am working on replacing floor pans in my mj. I currently have the old cut out mostly but have run into a question. I cannot tell due to the amount of decay in my truck. Do these 2 "bolts" need to be drilled through the new floor pan or should it set on top of them? Not final fit of the pan by any means of the imagination. Just trying to figure out how it fits in there. I know there are some differences in the mj floor and the xj pan. Is this where it starts? Limeyjeeper
Originally they were part of the cab floor reinforcement. Looks like you cut around them when you took the floor out. I would leave them alone and cut holes in the floor pan to clearance them.
Strokermjcomanche
The floor pan originally had the holes in it , you need to drill them out . The pans from mill supply in Cleveland have the holes in them too . Here's a picture of an original pan for reference.
Limeyjeeper
Correct, the studs were part of the brace, which would have been on top of the floorpan, hence the holes in the pan. The studs went through the pan and the chassis rail. You can see the holes in the chassis rails in the pic below.
watchamakalit
Awesome. That helps. I didnt cut mine out. The rust faries turned it into pixy dust. I'm kinda flying blind. Gonna try to replicate the bracing on top of the floor to the best of my abilities. watchamakalit
Any recommendations on what to paint the inner frame rail with? I don't want to have to do this again. Lol. I'm planning to seam seal and por15 the underside and then bedliner the interior floor. Just not sure what to do inside the rails. watchamakalit
Another question. How big of a hole will seam sealer seal? I'm guessing I should probably just bite the bullet and change the entire pan. Just looking for input. 13 Legion
Personally I think you will be ok patching. Those pinholes you should be able to clean up with a grinder. Seam seal your patches and those few pin holes and use POR 15 on your floors. I used some rubberized spray on the underside as well. There’s a lot of builds where guys patched their floors. Check those for any ideas. I put some sound deadening/ heat shield patch down as well. You are planning on stitch welding panels down? Rivets? Some other method?
