how do i decode my vin #.

Just got an 89 Comanche and would like to know all the original specs. This is my first one and would like to restore to original state. Thanks for any help

Google Jeep vin decoder, or contact "Jeep" "Chrysler" customer service home page and see if they can find your Vin in the system. Sometimes they have the records sometimes the unit is not in their system. Its like the build sheet but in plainer english.

I'd skip Chrysler (for now) and pull the driver's door skin off and see if the build sheet is in there.  If it's not there, look on the bottom of the seat cushions.  Amazingly they're often still there...

 

If it isn't, try Chrysler.  They might have something for an 89 since they were running things by then.

There is little to no info on our trucks for the 86-88 model years. here's the build sheet that comes up for yours. Almost none of the build codes here are correct for our trucks.

had around 110,000 when I purchased it, 2 months ago? wonder how long that has not been turning now....

I've taken it to the dealer twice now, 110,xxx 111,xxx (finally got the odometer turning on it, but I put about 5k on it easily.)
