Egr valve

Anyone ever delete the egr system?

 

The pipe is rotted on mine and i was thinking of just removing the bungs and welding them up, and making a block off plate for the valve itself.

It has been done by many. As long as it does not need Smog inspection it will be OK.

Just curious, did a quick search with the tapatalk app and couldnt find anything.

Just going to do that then. Anything over 15 years in my state is just a saftey inspection. Thanks.

I understand the function and its used. I understand I'm not going to make anymore power. But i am going to gain simplicity, and save myself the headach trying to find that pipe locally.

Don't think EGR deals with NOx. NOx shows up when running lean.

Nox is less of a problem in gas vehicles since in cylinder temps are lower. I'm a Peterbilt tech, egr is a huge factor lowing Nox in diesels since they burn a lot hotter.

Sure, but EGR is used to lower in cylinder temps to prevent Nox, Nox can still form in a gas engine, lean or under load.
