kill_burst
Hey gang. Could use some help with these tail lights. Made some new ones because I ripped out the old ones on the trail. I believe I figured out turn signal and also running lights. However I am struggling with getting brake lights and running lights with brake lights. I have turn signal going to the amber colored light and trying to use the red light for brake and running. Any help would be appreciated. Also a link or pic of the wiring diagram could also be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Jeep Driver
How many wires are coming out of the red lamp?
gogmorgo
^^^What he said. For a light to be both the tail light and brake light, it needs two separate circuits to it, powering different elements of the light. You can get trailer light type LED's that will do what you want. Check this out. There's wiring diagrams in it. Also if you ever drive on public roads, you NEED a white reverse light, which I don't see there. kill_burst
The back has 3 wires. White for ground, and a red and a black wire. I will have to pull them back off real quick to see what they say as far the red and black. Wonder if if I need a converter or find the correct lights lol. Never been much for wiring. kill_burst
Back if the tail lights has 3 wired white for ground, black says tail and red says stop and turn. The turn signal I was able to get through my amber light on the bottom. Just struggling to get the darn brake and running lights figured out

You don't have amber turn like the newer vehicles. You used your brake/turn wire on the amber.
Jeep Driver
If you really want to make this work- You'll have to run a new brake light circuit from your brake light switch. Easy to do, just time consuming. IWOs, your existing brake/turn will remain on the amber lamp. You'll disconnect one side of the brake switch, from there you'll run new wires to your brake wire on the lamp. Run it through the existing loom just like it is now. Don't do a BS job of just stringing wire.........you're gong to have problems, snagged or grounded out.

You must have modified the factory wiring harness, so it might help someone else if you would explain what you did and how you made it work.
