tugalo
Has anyone had any luck changing the color of the carpet and vinyl by dyeing or painting it?
Jeep Driver
New carpet is what? about $180 to your door? Why would you bother with a 30 year old rag?
schardein
I've had very good results repainting metal and vinyl interior parts with SEM paint for plastics. As for painting carpet, no. Just no.
SVPete
I "freshened up" the look of my carpet with some fabric dye from Wal-Mart (about $2). I stayed with the original color of blue. I didn't expect a miracle, but it looked a lot better after washing and dyeing, versus the faded look.
Keyav8r
I also dyed my carpet with a fabric dye, same basic color. Removed, pressure washed with soap, rinsed well, sun dried, sprayed dye with a garden sprayer, sun dried, rinsed excess dye out, sun dried, re-installed. Color is good and more even than before. Did it on both the ‘88 and the ‘91. Yes, replacement carpet is available somewhat reasonably priced, but I’ve heard the fit is questionable. And, I like to do things myself and keep my truck as original as possible.
