macho_burrito
I recently discovered a source where I can get the components to build a replacement pigtail for the blower motor switch in the dash (Brown connector with five slots that only uses four wires). I'm trying to gauge interest in making more. I can make pigtails with 12ga leads that are 12 inches long and ship them for $30. Just looking to see if there is any interest in this part, I know it is something that I have not been able to find for quite some time and I thought I would share. Thanks. HOrnbrod
Pretty sure these connectors are only for the Renix years - you might want to check it out.
macho_burrito
My 95 xj and my 88 mj both use this plug, but the wire colors are different. The 95 colors are blue, yellow, green and tan. I don't remember the colors on the 88 as the 95 is the one I just recently replaced.

macho_burrito
I found a cheaper source for the terminals so I could make and ship for $20. Also I managed to get a picture of the finished product.

HOrnbrod
It's great you have come up with a new blower motor switch connector replacement, but if you have a dragging blower motor pulling more amps than it's supposed to it's just a matter of time before something in the blower motor speed control circuitry smokes again. The factory wiring is undersized and can't handle any amp overloads throughout the circuit. An excellent way to permanently prevent this is to replace the dragging blower motor with a new one that doesn't draw excess amperage, then add relays to the individual motor windings controlling the motor RPMs. HERE's one way to do it, although I would use a 4-way mini relay box under the dash similar to the below to keep it neat and compact. Green Mesa XJ
Is this a common weak part or something? Yes. It’s also a plug usually missing on junk yard dash harness for the old XJ/MJ because it melts and people picking over the jeeps cut those plugs out if it’s any good.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
HOrnbrod
Another way. Use insulated spade connectors though.
macho_burrito
Totally agree on preventing the problem. This is a fix for those of us who found the problem after it melted and want a cleaner solution than individual spade connectors. All my jeeps thus far have been fixed with spade terminals, I was excited to find this connector body.
HOrnbrod
I haven't inspected that connector in years. Next time I have to pull the dash panel I'll take a peek. Are these connectors ready to ship now via Paypal? If so I'll take one now for a spare.
macho_burrito
I have one now. I have to build harnesses for large truck bodies occasionally at my job, which is how I stumbled into finding this connector. I needed eight for the job and have to order ten at a time. I fixed one of my jeeps and made one more. I'll probably order ten more and have them ready by next week.

This helps prevent it though. http://cruiser54.com/?p=211 I did my blower motor ground a couple Months ago. Thanks for the excellent advise, as usual. After reading this thread, I happen to look a bit closer than usual around my heater controls. I noticed that the left side of the rectangle looks a bit distorted. Aha! I bet I have some thermal damage behind it where that connector goes. Weekend project is to open her up and see what horrors await me. So I got off work early today and made a trek over to Louisville at the Pick A Part. Love that place. I needed a spare wheel/tire and thought I'd grab me some other parts on my wish list. There were 6-7 non-Renix XJs there and all but one had fried motor switch connectors. This single connector pictured below had already been wired in as a replacement pigtail by a PO. Almost fell into my hands, as the guy had used only vinyl electrical tape to "wire" it in. Works for me....easier removal. This connector was one of several jewels I scored today. Felt like a found a precious pearl after opening a bunch of oysters.

EDIT: Slapped a new dash bezel on today and pulled the HVAC controls to take a peek at the blower switch connector - it looked like new. Oh well, got one in case it smokes later. macho_burrito
I got the supplies yesterday and have 6 made and ready to go, and will have the other four done soon. The wire leads are white, but other than that they are identical to the picture. I'm probably going to list them on eBay for 25 or 30 to cover their fees, but if anyone on here wants them I can still ship for 20. Thanks for the interest.
