dante2 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I recently got my REM installed and after talking with Nick about some issues we discovered that the REM is saying I have a manual ECU. PO told me he replaced the ECU before I bought the truck and I did have to bolt it back up myself. Now the truck has been an auto since it rolled out of the factory so do I need to get an auto ECU? Nick believes it's a good idea anybody agree or disagree with that?
DirtyComanche Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Does it currently work? There apparently isn't much difference between them.
dante2 Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 Idle is running between 900-1k+. Sprayed hoses and can't find a vacuum leak.
DirtyComanche Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 TPS adjusted correctly? IAC is actually functioning? Throttle is actually closing?
dante2 Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 TPS at .85 or 17%. IAC was cleaned when I did the throttle body. Throttle appears closed.
DirtyComanche Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 You could try swapping it but my gut says it isn't the problem.
Ωhm Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Auto ECU has P/N function. The purpose of this function is to add ≈50 rpms in anticipation of the new load added to the engine when shifted into gear. In reality it backs off IAC (more air) to maintain the same idle rpms. With the Auto ECU you may be able to lower your idle rpms by ≈50 rpms. As mention above, adjust your TPS again and check throttle plate using cruiser54 tip #14. http://cruiser54.com/?p=94
cruiser54 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I've used them interchangeably and Ohm is correct. It's not a deal breaker to have a MT ECU in an auto vehicle. Search elsewhere for your issue. Of my Tips, how many have you completed? Adjusting the TPS won't do any good it it's ground is bad.......Tip 5....
