AMCJeepMJ
Not like I have a ton of vehicle storage space. Picked up a 1974 Toyota Corona Mk2 wagon yesterday, drove up to Portland to pick it up and drive it back to Central Oregon with it. 2.6 inline 6, 3 speed auto, 2bbl carb, rwd, a/c. Bad respray, surface rust under carpets, stalls at traffic lights, unobtanium trim pieces, rear window is plexi. Good news is the body is otherwise straight apart from front left corner Drove great on highway, wife chased in the Benz in case things went pear-shaped. At Timberline rest stop yesterday afternoon: A pic I found online of it parked in Portland from a few years back: Got the owner down to $1000 and drove off with title in hand. whowey
That's a blast from the past! It's even "we thought that $#!& color was cool in the 70's" orange... I'm guessing parts are going to be tough to come by? Sent from my SM-S920L using Tapatalk
AMCJeepMJ
Haven't decided on which direction to go on it- I would prefer to restore it to close to original condition but obtaining parts will be a challenge to say the least. However, putting Celica Supra parts on it would be easier to obtain and are reasonably interchangeable. First thing to do is get tires on it that aren't 20 years old on it and do some upkeep: fluid changes, plugs, filters, gaskets, etc. The seats and carpets are going to have to come out to address the rust, which will be a summer project; fortunately the underside is in pretty good shape. AMCJeepMJ
A few more pics from this evening, now that its in the driveway and out of the road. Had to retape the rear glass... I mean plexi. And with MJ in the background goodness.

Tex06
Had a 73 Carina. It even had a hemi, lol! Cool car, hadn't seen the wagon before. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
AMCJeepMJ
Well, a trip to the Bend Toyota dealer today revealed that the back window is only $230, but has been discontinued for about 20 years, so looks like the plexi is hanging around for a while, which is unfortunate. Discovered that the car has its original Toshiba sealed-beam high beams bulbs on it, which is a point for keeping it original. Also discovered that the exhaust manifold exits two exhaust pipes which meet at the muffler to form a single exhaust... maybe dual exhaust is in the future? (or sidepipes lol)
