is the 42RE better, worse or similar to the AW4? the reason is there`s a grand cherokee (ZJ) i can get for cheap, it also has a 4.0 HO and runs pretty well, the interior is in very bad shape but the rest is good, if i were to get it i plan to have it as a donor for the MJ, engine tranny and whatever fits

any site i can find more data on this tranny?

You can use the front axle shafts as spares if they are in decent shape. Drive shafts, at least the front may work or you co ld sell it to someone who needs a certain length shaft

If it has rear disc brakes those are a good swap.

has rear disk brakes but is a Dana 35, not swapping my 44 for it just for the brakes, unless the 44 breaks somehow

it`s a 2wd so no front axle... again only if my current one breaks...

Yep aw4 is way better than all the chrysler made trannys.  Chrysler still doesn't make good trannys.

The 727 Torqueflite was one of the best AT's ever made. It couldn't be killed, and is still used today.
