HunterK
i'm looking to buy a short bed, there is a couple local I have been looking at in pretty good shape, no wheel well rust or big dents. i have no clue what a bed would cost. anyone know what a decent shape short bed would go for? also if I end up buying one i will be selling my short bed with some bondo above the wheel wells. what would be a fair price to charge for it? thanks. Eagle
About 15 years ago I paid $500 for a pristine short bed box, complete with tailgate and taillights. I also had to make a 200 mile round trip to pick it up. I would expect a nice one to be worth a lot more today.
yellaheep
They're around $175 for just the bed, $75 for the tail gate, and $40 each on tail lights at our local u-pull yards. If I had a nice one already removed and ready, I'd generally ask $250 for the bed, $100 tail gate, and $50 per tail light. It's all about location though. If you find one local to you, you'll need to base what you pay on what it'd cost you to get elsewhere. $500 for a nice bed local might be a bargain...... ARareBreed
People ask $300 for a pair of tail lights which I honestly think is outrageous.
xjrev10
People ask $300 for a pair of tail lights which I honestly think is outrageous. Yes. That's too bad. Its the peope that buy them that keep the prices going up! I think a nice clean set should be worth maybe 80 bucks myself.
DirtyComanche
Supply and demand. If there is demand with no supply, be prepared to PAY. I'd happily drop $500+ for a bed if I needed it and it was in good enough shape.
ParadiseMJ
$20 a pop at our local yard, so I picked up a pair. They were oxidized, but brought back to almost perfect with a little 240 wet/dry sandpaper and some Testor's model paint. I'd sell them, but I won't cause I may need one or two and I can't afford to buy them on Ebay for $100 each or more.
Incommando
I paid $250 for a good bed with tailgate and tail lights and felt like I stole it. Here in the rust belt they are hard to find.
