Best way to drain oil for change?

i changed the oil six months ago and now is black and muddy again, time for an oil change... last time i drained the oil pan with the truck sitting horizontally and i felt that some oil was left, and even sludge, if i lift the front tires do you think it will drain better?

yes.  also don't let it go quite that long.  when my 88 was a daily driver it got new oil every 2k.  I could feel the power difference with new oil, that's how dirty the oil got. :(

Do you change it at operating temperature? That makes a big difference.

I never do but I change mine every 4 to 5k miles so doesn't have a chance to get too bad. Use a bottle of MMO every change also with a high compactly filter.
