1987Comanche
Pray that the Mexicans that cobbled the engine together did a better job on your engine than they did on mine. My cam bearings lasted a whopping 282 miles. Have you purchased it yet? If not maybe you can find something better. FYI ATK's customer service is crap. If you want to see what "quality by ATK means" here's the link to Maura's build page: http://comancheclub.com/topic/27930-my-1990-and-some-pics-of-the-old-87/page-
A-man930
I've heard of ATK cam bearing failures as well...
Minuit
I've never heard a single good thing about ATK engines. Not just here but from other car/mechanic forums as well. Lots of stories of failures after less than 1000 miles, and not just in Jeep engines.
parkia86
I just realized my topic didn't post my request.... I am looking for what else I can replace while the engine is out or at least what "Should" i replace? So far I'm thinking water pump, starter, CPS, Flex Plate, Thermostat... mechanic won't charge me for stuff he has to pull off anyway.... alternator is in great shape so I'm not sure ill replace that.... does anyone have any suggestions? Adam Water pump, CPS, and thermostat are all good things to replace since they could negatively affect the engine break in process. The starter and alternator are easy to get to and replace should they be faulty after the engine break in process.
