ARareBreed Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I'm looking to rebuild a Dana 44 and put it in the rear of my MJ, what vehicles has an equivalent DISK axle that I can swap in? I'm doing SOA, so I will be welding on new perches.

HOrnbrod Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 If you find an XJ or MJ D44 at a reasonable price, grab it. It's real easy to swap in disk brakes from a ZJ or Ford Explorer.
AeroNautical Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Some WJs DO have dana 44s, but avoid them, they are aluminum. (Why?) I see JKs in junkyards alot around here, all have Dana 44 rears, with discs, though I don't know if they are the same width as our stock axles.
Crash Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 WJ are about 4" wider than XJ/ZJ/MJ axles, IIRC. JK axles are slightly wider than WJ axles. IF you want a wider stance, and to run JK wheels, and can get them for a reasonable price you can go that route.
