Fattyalx
What would be the best brush guard, grill guard, bumper setup that is cheap? I can't find anything anywhere that is cheap, most of it all is overpriced. Any input or help?
Blue88Comanche
what price range are you looking for? Are you looking for a Grille Guard that covers the existing bumper (like Mine), or a new bumper with brush guards (with or without a winch mount? dunnc1991
Depends on your definition of cheap. You're gonna be paying a few hundred at least, for something decent. You get what you pay for.
Pete M
do you want something that simply looks cool? or something that will deflect a buffalo?

I found a ranger/bronco brush guard on my local craigslist for $30, would it be worth it to do some custom fabrication on that to make it fit? Blue88Comanche
What are you wanting to use it for? Looks or practical use (winch and recovery) a lot of them out there are mostly just for looks. The ones jeep offered are an example. When you fab it up be sure to attach it to the frame if you plan to use it for recovery. My build thread has a few pics of the warn setup my grille guard uses. I plan both. Looks cause I think it gives the Comanche so much better of a look, and I live in Upstate NY, where there's tons of deer. Using a guard will help protect the jeep if I ever hit a deer
shelbyluvv
A cheap grill guard will do nothing against a deer strike. It will fold up just as easy as a sheet metal body panels. Unless you pony up for a good off road bumper you are going to get nothing other than a light holder. I hit a deer with my WJ that had a ARB bull bar on the front and the deer destroyed my $900 bumper and caused $1000 worth of damage to the Jeep. It depends how fast you're going, had an 06 dakota, hit a deer with a brush guard and all that happened was it bent the headlight part of the guard and cracked the headlight. Depends the conditions. shelbyluvv
I was doing about 45 mph when I saw the herd of deer in the road. I stood on the binders and plowed into her at roughly 35-40 mph. I wish I had pictures of the Jeep. She was only about 110 lb deer also.
ParadiseMJ
Depends the conditions. ...and the deer. We have a 250+ buck that frequents our neighborhood (the baby-daddy of most of the deer around here I'd guess). I hit a fat doe with my first little Nissan at 25 mph and they totaled it. The airbag deployed...she rolled right over the top and ran off, full speed.

I've heard a few times of arb equppied vehicles sustaining pretty good damage from taking a hit.

I also hit a deer in a '95 Escort, it jumped out in front of me out of nowhere and all it did was dent my fender and hood and crack my headlight. Like I said, depends the conditions.
