Door hinge pin

Recommended Posts

Can not for the life of me find a replacment pin for an '86 comanche

Mine must have snapped or something, Because i got a bunch of slack in the bottom hinge & My door won't close properly without throwing it as hard as i can.

If anyone has a part # or a link, That would be great!

Also; whats the easiest way to remove the pin? Bfh?

/edit

found the door pin after a bunch of googling.

Whats the easiest way to get the old one out? Hammer? Or drill? Any tips?

Remove the old one with a pair of channel locks, the jaws have just enough of an offset if held at the right angle to drive the pin out the top with the bottom jaw while placing the upper jaw on the pin housing.  Installation is reverse of removal.  Easy peasy.

Well i got my pins in the mail today, Ended up having to remove the door to get a good hammer swing... Beat on it for a good 2 hours while heating it, did not budge a single mm... seems like the pin is fine and the hole on the body side of the hinge is ground out..

Not sure where to go from here.. Door sags a good 3~ inches currently and i can barely close it. Cut off the hinge from the body & weld on a new one? Is there a way to use the newer style hinges on our early mj's? :/

Take a cheap air hammer bit, cut the end off so you have a blunt hammer bit.

Use rubber hose to connect the bit to the hammer end of the punch.

Use the air hammer to loosen or drive the pin out......short burps.

You'd be surprised with a small amount of vibration will do to stuck pin.....ball joints.......etc...

You'll have to hold the punch and bit together with your hand....all the fuel hose will do is keep the bit from running off the punch.
