Jacob Ochs
Ive seen the mirrors on my MJ on various other 86 year model comanches, it almost looks like the old ford truck aluminum mirrors Those are mine painted black. So I was contemplating going with the regular 84-96,86-92 mirror style that are on the majority of MJ's and XJ's. What are your guys oppinions? I just need help deciding I have the other style mirrors sitting In the garage but I'm just not sure! 97 mirrors are out of the question.... because I hate them but thats just my oppinion. So thanks ahead of time to those who give feedback.
Strokermjcomanche
The mirrors you have arent affected by the window post , and if you remove them you'll have ugly holes in the door . The common xj mj mirrors are small and the window post limits the view slightly . The 97 + xj mirrors are a bolt on as well , but don't match the flow of our trucks IMO . I 100% agree as far as the 97+ mirrors go! But the window post never seemed to bother me ( I drive my dads XJ all the time) so for me it all comes down to looks! So I'd reword your statement to "the 97+ mirrors have way too much flow for our trucks".
MuddFoot
i like the 97 up mirrors for the clean look and they work better than the 84-96.i feel they have more viewing area and they fold in

Tommy
I'd stick with the Ford mirror. I swapped mine from stock to Ford and won't be going back. They look beefier, which is nice, but they also just work better for me. I HATED how blind I was with the stock mirror.
johnj92131
I'd stick with the Ford mirror. I swapped mine from stock to Ford and won't be going back. They look beefier, which is nice, but they also just work better for me. I HATED how blind I was with the stock mirror. When I got my truck it had the stock "Ford" type door mounted mirrors. The view was great, but the mounting points of the mirrors were very worn. Net result? When driving the mirrors bounced all over the place making it very hard to get a stable view of what was behind. Even with every mounting point properly bolted down the glass was still not stable when driving at highway speeds or bumpy roads. So I changed to stock pillar mounted mirrors. Then the view was stable, but considerable smaller. About 4 years ago I went to 97+ mirrors because they fit easily and gave me a bit bigger field of view. As an added bonus the 97+ mirrors are power adjustable, which helps when I tow something. If I could find a bit larger pillar mounted mirror, I would consider it. My 2000 Isuzu Rodeo has a bit wider pillar mounted mirror. It does give a better rear field of view when towing. But doesn't look adaptable to the MJ.
