Incommando
http://www.caranddriver.com/features/c8-chevrolet-corvette-exclusive-what-to-expect-from-the-heart-stopping-mid-engined-zora-feature I would be surprised to see it on sale by 2017. That would be a short life cycle for the hot selling C7. Supposedly GM is upset that the average C7 buyer is "on the wrong side of 50." Heck, How many 20 somethings have the scratch to by a C7 toy? And the C8 looks to be more. Make mine a stealthy grey....

gogmorgo
They've been looking at doing a mid-engined 'Vette for longer than I've been alive... But it was too "unAmerican". The mid-engined C8 won't replace the C7, but it'll sit along side it as a halo car. I don't see GM ditching the front engine any time soon. GM has been fooling around with mid-engined stuff for a VERY long time. I think since mid to late 1950's. Nothing will change. They look at the concept every few years and the P.R. dept takes some pictures. Result: Free ink and something to keep the faithful interested. Incommando
Yeah, the timing is off to make this realistic in my eyes. It would either have to be the "halo" as gogmorgo mentioned or a tease. You know in the last couple of years of production the Fiero wasn't half bad for the era. They got some of the early issues worked out.
gogmorgo
The only reason the Fiero made it past the bean counters to production was because they put it together using a hodge-podge of economy car parts. And then people had trouble with them because they tried to use them as what they were supposed to be, not what they actually were... cobbled together economy cars. It wasn't until the bean counters acknowledged that the car was actually selling that they bothered to build it the way it was supposed to be. A buddy of mine picked up a Fiero for $500 out of someone's back yard, and dropped in a 3.4 out of an Alero. It's a pretty decent car now. With the old Iron Duke's 4500rpm redline, not so much. benjy_26
The Fiero looked cool and actually sounded pretty nice i its later years, but it handled like crap compared to the MR2.My brother has an 85 4AGE powered MR2 that's an absolute BLAST to drive. Not big on power, but the handling is superb. If GM brought out the Fiero again and made it handle like the Yota, I'd buy one in a heartbeat! A-man930
+1 on the late Fiero being a sweet car. I'd love to do an LSJ Ecotec swap in one someday.
Tommy
Drive an 88 Fiero and try to honestly claim it handles like crap. Or a properly sorted pre
benjy_26
I have and have autocrossed against them. Compared to a AW11 (or SW20) MR2, the Fiero is a straight line animal and a good cruiser, but it eats it when it comes to cornering and handling balance.
