Paint

Recommended Posts

Paint codes are in your VIN which is probably the best way to know for sure. In my experiences there were a lot of variations of the same colors between year models of the MJ, and XJ especially during the Chrysler and AMC merger years.

Ah... Thanks! The reason I ask is because my MJ isn't a super bright white like most Jeeps I've seen. Maybe mine has yellowed a bit over time?

Check your paint code I can't remember mine it's a white 91, but I actually think the color is called bright white.

For the HOs the paint code is on the Body Code Plate located on the left side firewall. In the below example it is shown as "Primary Paint". It's normally a three character code; two letters and one digit. For instance my paint code is PS7.

Renix is similar:

At some point the paint color tag was on the upper radiator brace. I don't remember if that was the "new" position, or the "old" position.

There should also be a tag on the driver's door that includes, among other information, the paint code.

lol I actually like that my truck ISN'T that bright, blue tinged white that is being used on newer vehicles. Again, maybe my truck has yellowed out with age, but I do see a bit of yellow/orange tint to it when the sun hits it compared to my buddies' Nissans, Fords, and newer Jeeps.
