i was searching through the forums and stumbled apon the parking brake recall and decided to see if my year is on the list. while searching i found this

 

 

 

1990 Jeep Comanche Recall
Item Affected: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: CRUISE CONTROL
Date Announced: 01/04/1991
Description of Recall:
MALFUNCTION OF FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM THROTTLE POSTITION SENSOR COULD CAUSE INTERMITTENT HIGH ENGINE IDLE SPEED IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING ENGINE.
Action Need To Fix It:
REPLACE THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS WITH SENSORS THAT WOULD SEND CORRECT SIGNALS TO THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM.

when i start my truck it revs to about five thousand and then quiets back down to normal. i found this on the website http://www.dealerrater.com/recalls/Jeep/Comanche/  there are many other recalls as well on these things

Try adjusting your TPS with a multimeter. If you can't get it in the correct range, then I'd say start thinking about replacing it. They're right, most likely it has been replaced already.
