Knucklehead97
These are so much easier to come by than 2 door seats or Comanche seats. But they simply don't lean forward enough... Has anyone ever thought to figure out what stops them from leaning forward and just well... grind it off? Is it possible? :dunno: It'd make bucket conversions a lot easier. For me, that is. onlyinajeep726
No, but it want to be the guinea pig and find an old seat to experiment with, please post and show all of us how.
cruiser54
Sounds like Knucklehead is gonna do a write-up in his spare time!!
terrawombat
I've done it with a pair of seats out of a 1999 4-door XJ. Looking around to see if I have any pictures.
terrawombat
Don't have a write-up and I honestly don't remember exactly how I did it, but I may be doing it again real soon as I'm looking for a pair of buckets to replace my old worn out bench in my 92 MJ. At the very least the pictures show you how far the seats tilt forward.

I think the option to use 4 door seats while still being able to get behind the seats easily will make bucket conversions much easier and cheaper for us that lack junkyards  My pastor at church has a 4 door for parts (already got a full gauge cluster and perfect front bumper for free off of him) I may be able to get the seats out of it for cheap if not also free. If I do then I will try to figure out what to grind off and I'll post a write up on it. The seats are torn up but I'll go get some cloth and foam off of some seats out of a junkyard and refurbish them while I'm at it  How do I post pictures on this forum? I completely forgot how to.
shelbyluvv
You can use TJ tilt mechanisms in a Newer XJ, ZJ or WJ seat. I did it to the ZJ seats that are in my truck. There is a post in the DIY section with a write up.
Knucklehead97
I read through it. I can't even find TJ's in the only junkyard near me. Theres maybe 10 Jeeps there at a time and most are Grand Cherokees. Otherwise 4-door XJ's :dunno: I hate it.
