48MJ
I know the ground is in the left tail light housing on an MJ but where is it on a 87 XJ. Think I might have a ground issue because the fuel pump only comes on once in a while. If the pump comes on it starts if no pump, no start. It has a new fuel pump and I can turn the key on and off to get the pump to come on, sometimes the pump works and other times not. It also has a new CPS and distributor because this is a problem that happens off and on. Thinking ground?
88whitemanche
Delete Edit: I didn't read thoroughly your response above and decided to put delete to do it for my post not to delete your post....
48MJ
Why delete it's the same as an MJ. And I can't figure out if it's in the switch or ground or something else. By the way I've got 5 MJ's and 4 XJ's and this seems strange what it is doing, so just trying to find out what it is. If this is the way you want to treat someone with an XJ problem fine. But any help would be greatly appreciated.
yxmj
I don’t think he meant delete in a bad way….maybe just wanted to change his advice. Did you clean the ground cable good at the rear of rear of the motor by the dip stick? Fast check to see if it is a ground is to run a known good power source and a known good ground to the pump. If it runs good then check if it is ground or power by running a known good power source and a jumper to the original ground….if it is finicky it is your ground…..the opposite will show you if it is your power line. If it is the ground then just run a new ground wire connected to the chassis properly ant were safe. . :MJ 1: .
HOrnbrod
Try swapping out the FP relay with another one.
cruiser54
It's behind the trim panel behind the spare tire on an XJ.
