Zebvance Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Hooking up a subwoofer and a amp in the cab of the mj right now. Was going to see if anybody had any good recommendations for good grounding points in the back of the cab. I know how much of a pain in the butt it is to find good ones in the unibody. Any advice would be appreciated!
lil_loco Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 When taking out the interior on my donor truck I found the previous owner took advantage of the road side tool kit tie downs on the back wall. Ran the wires tidy behind the half wall carpet board. Seems like a good spot protected and easy to scratch the paint away without risking much rust formation.
benjy_26 Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I ran a spare 10ga wire from the dash cluster grounding point to the back of the cab. I hid it undsr the plastic trim that runs beneath thr door opening.
86FUBAR Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Ya I just used my seat bolts as well but IIRC the grounding wire on the amp isn't supposed to be longer than like 14 or 18 inches or something like that
Jeep Driver Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Amps have a significant draw, ground is as important as power. When I install mine, I will run a 8g ground directly to the battery.
Zebvance Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Grounds for amps are suppose to be no longer than 3 feet. If you run it that far I would double the wire size. I'm going to try the seat
