So I live in a fairly big city. (just shy of 1 mil I think) but the usual practice for me when I go dirt biking is go home unload, put away, ride bike to car wash to clean bike, ride back and put it away. the car wash is only two blocks away, and I usually ride trough the alleys. There is a part where I have to cross a road, but that part I walk (kind of like a bike) anyway today right as I was exiting the ally to cross the road there as a cop, he gave me the look so I got pulled over and he gave me a ticket, only 115$ plus he was really polite which is rare where I live, so it wasn't to bad, I just feel like an idiot form something that was easily avoidable.

Anyone with a similar story?

I'm a cop..... And that's a chicken-$#!& revenue ticket. Sorry you gotta pony up $115 of your hard earned money. However, I do applaud you for your great attitude about it.

Like I said, they were really cool about. Which makes it a lot better, then having to deal with a guy who's being a fool, which most of the ones I've to deal with here are.

I did this once too. Rode my little Honda 70 to the local Honda shop open house. Rode side streets till I had to cut through a couple parking lots to get to the next street that would take me there. One was a restaurant then a parts store. I made it over there fine. No helmet. No registration. Nuthin. On the way back I went the same way. I cut into the parts store lot came around the corner and there's a sheriff car and the officer standing there giving me a dirty look. I just smiled at him and kept on my way. I was lucky he didn't follow. It was funny though!

Literally live just outside west philly, any given day you can see half dozen to a dozen 4wheelers, dirt bikes or mini bikes on side walks, roads, even weaving between cars moving on street. Never see any pulled over, they even pull into gas stations to fill up. I do see many of them roll into the ER as traumas from stupidity. I call it job security, can't fix stupid.

May i ask what you were charged with? after all you said you were pushing the bike.

He saw me riding, just happen to be right there as I was coming out of the alley.

as for what I got ticketed, turns out my drivers licence expired... yeah.

best part of that

Cop "you know what you are to us without a valid license?"

Me "No, what?'

Cop "An 11 year old girl"

that was worth a quick laugh.

You took awhile to get to the root cause of the ticket and fine mate. Probably could have rode the bike home no problemo if your license was current and avoided the $115 loss. Good you can yuk about it I guess.
