Blaine Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I have oil coming in to my air filter from the valve cover any thoughts on why
Blaine Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Both lines on the valve cover wasn't plugged but the front line leading right to the air box is leaking oil around the insert to the cover
91Pioneer Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Common. What year is your truck? If it's a Renix, see tip #25 here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/36382-cruisers-renix-tips/
Eagle Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Both lines on the valve cover wasn't plugged but the front line leading right to the air box is leaking oil around the insert to the cover But the front line is an air INLET, allowing filtered air to enter the valve cover. The smaller line at the rear is the suction line that pulls air and contaminants out of the crankcase and sends them to the engine to be burned. The smaller line at the rear can get clogged over time, blocking that path. Blowby then pressurizes the crankcase and forces the oily residue to travel backwards to the air filter to get out. It's often necessary to remove the valve cover and clean out the inlet port as well as to replace the smaller (rear) CCV line to fix the problem. If your engine has a lot of blow-by, it's possible that even a fully functional CCV system won't be able to handle the excess crankcase pressure.
91Pioneer Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Yep you have a Renix. Do the valve cover mod and put a new hard line on the rear, Dorman makes them.
Jeep Driver Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Make sure the vacuum port is not clogged. Image Not Found
