I have looked at my truck and I don't think I have room behind my head on the window because I run with my seat all the way back. I am thinking of mounting one of the old style behind the seat in the back wall to hold my guns out of sight.

How would you attach it? I've thought about it,but don't want to put any more holes in the cab. Maybe if one were to attach it to the seat?

I was just going to screw it to the cab. If you don't want holes you could build one that sits on the floor behind the seat.

I don't remember exactly how the back of the cab looks with all the interior trim removed, but there should be some places you could attach a couple of flat bars across the cab between the points where the plastic and carpeted pieces attach under the rear window. If done right, the plastic and carpet pieces could still be used and your fabricated gun rack could be bolted through the trim to the flat bars.

You definitely want the rack behind the seats. Mounting it where it can seen is just inviting some lowlife ti bash out a window.

Can't say 100% sure this would work but it would only take 15 minutes to remove/replace the trim to see if it could be done

I'll have to look into it. The deal is, I think I have to mount em horizontally. Even with the stock fully collapsed, you can see my AR's muzzle through the rear window. Maybe this is the universe's way of telling me I DO need to get that Sig 556. :D

There is a brace running horizontally across the width of the cab about six inches from the bottom of the rear window. There is a 3 inch metal brace across the bottom of the cab. More than adequate to hold screws attaching a gun rack. And the screws won't be going thru the exterior cab wall.

You should look into an a stg556 or Tabor bullpup. More accurate and fit into properly sized trucks.

Been thinking of throwing the old M1 into a McMillan chassis, actually. A Tavor WOULD be VERY cool, though.
