Blaine
So are there two or three seals? one guy stated that there was two. one seal in the diff. driver side, and one in the CAD housing pass. side. So which one is the inner/outer seal. and the flange on the axle in my first post is that considered a seal. ive seen them be replaced with this. are the original ones supposed to flush with the axle housing? Blaine
ok inner seal is in the diff. on driver side (left side of diff. housing in pic above). outer seal is the one in the CAD housing. and if the dust/mud seals are pulled away from the axle housing will grime get in or do the pother seals prevent that? and could you explain this works? whats behind the two washers on the left side, seal or another mating surface for the seal For the inner something like this works
Jeep Driver
ok inner seal is in the diff. on driver side (left side of diff. housing in pic above). outer seal is the one in the CAD housing. and if the dust/mud seals are pulled away from the axle housing will grime get in or do the pother seals prevent that? and could you explain this works? whats behind the two washers on the left side, seal or another mating surface for the seal For the inner something like this works Seal press. Behind the washer to the left and the socket to the right are your inner seals. Turn the nuts on the threaded rod out and you seat the seals in both directions. I have mine on my bench, been there for almost two years......This summer, when I find time.
Blaine
i thought fluid needed to run to the CAD. with the seal there it wouldn't flow to it
Blaine
or does the cad not need gear oil?
Eagle
i thought fluid needed to run to the CAD. with the seal there it wouldn't flow to it There is no seal at the diff housing when the axle is equipped with the CAD. The only seal on the passenger side with the CAD is on the outboard side of the CAD.

They don't hurt anything, but those would be about the last thing I'd be spending my hard-earned money for.
87mjdriver
For what it's worth I bought a set of them like 10 years ago, and they still work fine. You just got to grease them once in a while
