i recently purchased a 2.5l comanche.  it originally came with a breather filter in the pcv location, so it was spraying oil everywhere.  i replaced the pcv and hose, replaced the oil cap, and cleaned off the valvecover.  it seems to have massively slowed down the leak, but there is still a pretty large oil leak from the top of the valvecover.  i noticed with the oil cap that it is very loose side to side, and I'm wondering if that is normal?  also what is the smaller line coming off the valvecover in the back?

thanks!

I would suggest to  you that either you have a ton of blow-by........check compression.

or...you have a bunch of muck that is restricting oil return to the pan.......IOWs your oil in remaining on the top of the head....

or.....your vacuum line is clogged or broken an you are not getting any positive crank case ventilation.

exact same problem with my 87 2.5. have bought 2 new oil filler caps and there both loose side to side as the op's. I'm also getting oil seepage from both the lines to the intake and the tb and I have replaced those grommets as well.

i checked the vacuum line and flushed it out with brake clean, i checked compression, and it is 140 on all 4 cylinders, and from what i can see, it doesnt look like the oil is pooling in the head.(peeked through the oil fill)  now what?

I have and aluminum one which I bought from someone on this site.  I never used it since when I swapped the engine to an '94 2.5L, it came with an aluminum one already installed!

I will PM you pics if you are interested in taking it off my hands.

Run the front line to the intake, the smaller line runs to a vacuum port.

Change out the valve cover gasket.
