  1. 8Valvehero, you sir are the winner. Just ran a wire that junction and the beast fired up. Thanks everyone for your help. Now would anyone like to buy a 88 Pioneer. It has a new starter.
  2. Thanks for the info Jargon. Messed with that wire and the positive cable still nothing. I can't remember exactly how the old cables looked, as I replaced both positive and negative. Anyone maybe have a picture of how they should look hooked up?
  3. I have an 88 Pioneer, with an 86 2.5 in it. I just put a new starter in it and now there is no power anywhere in the rig. I believe I hooked everything back up correctly, so I am really confused. When I lost the previous starter, I could turn the key and all of the lights etc. came on. No there is nothing when I turn the key. I noticed that when I got done, there was an orange wire, had been in the same bundle as the positive battery cable, that I don't know where it goes. I really need to get this thing running. HELP.
  4. I am working on my 88 Pioneer with a 2.5L 4 spd. I am trying to figure out what the hose that goes in at the back of the valve cover is called. I found one on line called a crankcase breather tube, but it only listed as being good for 4.0L. I can't get this beast running until I find one. HELP.
  5. What is the small line, at the rear of the valve cover, called and where can I get a new one?
  6. Thanks for the help.
  7. I just had to replace the valve cover on my 88 Comanchee, after the original one broke. Got the new one in place and discovered that there were no grommets for the PCV valve. Went to my local O'Reilly store and they were lost. Any idea what size I need and possibly where to get it.
  8. Thanks for the info. Actually, the rusty one was on the driver's side I think 3rd from the front.
  9. Related question: I now have the head back on, in my book it says to wrap bolt 8 with a sealant. Which one is bolt 8?
  10. I am replacing the head gasket on an 88 with the 2.5. As I was pulling the head bolts, I found one that had a lot of rust on it. Any ideas as to what would cause that.
  11. In regards to the ps pump bracket: there is a bolt at the back of it, behind the pump. What is the easiest way to get to it. I tried a pivot adaptor for sockets, but did not seem to be getting a hold of the head.
  12. Mine appears to be hooked to intake. I wouldn't think that it would interfere with removing the head. The book doesn't say anything about the manifolds other than to disconnect them.
  13. I am attempting to change the head gasket on my 88 Pioneer. It has a 2.5 in it w/ no ac. My question is, according to my Chiltons book I am supposed to remove the power steering pump bracket. It doesn't look like the bracket connects to the head, however the alternator bracket does. Do I need to move the alt bracket and the power steering pump bracket?
  14. I appreciate any help I can get. Between this and my son's 61 Corvair, I am staying busy.
  15. Hey all. I have an 88 Comanchee Pioneer (2.5 4cyl, 4 spd, no AC, man windows) and the fuse box is deteriorating. I am in need of one to swap. To be specific, I am referring to the one under the dash. Thanks.
