Mitch
What brand? how big? how long owned? likes - dislikes? I am trying to research, and I have it narrowed down to a few based on price and parts. But I can't find any reviews. Please answer the questions above for me. Thanks!
JeepcoMJ
Rough Country 3" lift came with new LCA's, front coils, sway bar drop, new shocks all around, new steering stabilizer, brake line extensions too. i really like the front end...the back end is fine, but it's AAL so it's just a matter of when it starts to sag rather than if. I would simply stay away from AAL's and spend the money on new springs in the rear. that's my 2 cents.
mjcanoe
mitch, Like jeepcomj I started w/Rough country. Frt. coil springs, rear aal(long style), & 4 gas shocks to match. 2.5-3.0" lift they advertized, I got 2.0 " plus a little when finished. Then I recently added a Rusty's frt. adjustable lift & used a set of Summit "drop" shackles to level out rear. It rides, flexes good. No problems for about 3 mos. now. mjcanoe
pingpong
OK I have owned several differnet kinds of lifts. For cheap good lift a 2" econo worked til the bug bit... then severe fender trimming and 33's :D Then I ran RE'd Drop brackets, with stock upper and lowers. It flexed and rode great. I had RE HD trac bar mount, and brace, and still run that part today. I ran Doescth tech shocks, Love them and still run them today. I have run the Terra flex Long arm upgrade kit, it flexed ok, but not as good as the RE Drop brackets. Experienced suspension bind and bad dive characteristics. I run cutom made alcans in the rear, and the work great, until I lightned the truck 500#s, now they are too stiff. I just bought a XJ with 4"'s of lift and 33's and it rides stiff as hell, you can feel every bump, and the ride quality just isnt there for me

jared
front - 6.5'' rustys spring with rough country adjustable arms. it rides smooth, but being a short arm you really feel the bumps, haven't had it off road since install so i don't know about flex yet
Tracker
>Rocky Road Outfitters >5" >Had it on 2 MJ's, (1st one got crashed) for a total of 5 months >rides and flexes great. Likes: Go SOA without welding and OME springs are great. Good workmanship and finish, good customer support. Dislikes: Specific to D35 only, last I heard. Mitch
does the rocky road kit come with LCA's? or should I not worry about those soo much?
feerocknok
I posted here, I thought... I have a mixmatch thing I put together that rides nice, but... 2.25" lift shackles are bad! On full droop, the shackles force the axle forward enough that my driveshaft bottoms out on the tailhousing of the t-case. This will DESTROY my T-Case!!! If you use lift shackles don't go too big like I did, even though it does ride dreamy...
Rob S
Well this is my second MJ, however I have owned about 15 XJ's all together. Lots of different lift's. For my current MJ, it has a SOA in the rear already, I'm replacing the front lift with RE LCA's and 3.5" coils with a extra stock spacer, that should level me out and give a great ride for a short arm kit. I had this lift in an XJ an it rode great, much better than stock. Plus I won't have tons of money wrapped up in it. For shocks I am going with OME, again, can't beat the ride. Pete M
does the rocky road kit come with LCA's? or should I not worry about those soo much? Unless something has changed, the rocky kit comes with NO arms. Longer LCAs are generally needed for even just a 3" lift, let alone a 5" one. The caster must be awful!
mudrunt
I personally like the hodge podge lift. Unless you have never been wheeling before to know what kind of terrain you will be on. I have Rustys 6.5" coils, RE drop brackets which make it ride down the road great and flex is amazing too, spring over in the rear with 2" lift leaf pack that was on the jeep when i bought it. Everything came off of ebay and the price you would pay for that size of lift from a dealer is what I have in my entire jeep. I built mine based of the wheeling I do. Lots of trails with hills, some rock, and some mud. Here in Indiana not much on the rock but lots of nice hilly terrain and off camber stuff.
