SmthnD1ff
So I briefly considered selling the MJ (pleading temporary insanity) but have decided to keep it. I decided that if I am in fact going to keep it I am going to give it a full electrical overhaul and clean up my engine bay...

SmthnD1ff
What quickly made the top of my $#!& list was the poorly engineered C101. The C101 is the junnction box on the drivers side firewall that the harness feeds in and out of. I have already done the C101 connector cleaning per forum advice but the more I read about it it just seemed entirely unnecessary and many have removed it entirely (including Chrystler just 2 years later) For reference, here is a picture of the C101

SmthnD1ff
Another problem I found was the crud in my fuse box connector:

SmthnD1ff
Initially I figured I would just give it a good cleaning but after I pulled the fuse box and saw more melted, corroded and jumpered connections I decided a new fuse box was in order. While mine functioned ok (a couple of fuses liked to fall out at random) I have never been a fan of it being mounted up under the dash, hidden in a dark jungle of wires and with my dash swap its even harder to try and crane my upper body into the footwell while holding a flashlight to try and check the fuses. A little research and a quick trip to the junk yard and I now have this:

SmthnD1ff
Surprisingly there were 8 XJ's in the yard so I found the best under hood fuse box available and grabbed a ton of fuses. This one is out of a 2000 sport. I also found my trucks twin! Ive only ever been able to find one other MJ in a yard so you can imagine my surprise seeing this beaut. Same motoe and trans so I snagged the speedo cable and valve cover plumbing. I sat there for quite a while going over every inch of it. It was nearly 100% complete, completely stock and only had 120k miles on it. It felt so strange sitting in it knowing this was my EXACT truck at some point... SmthnD1ff
This is where I plan to mount my new fuse box. The little thing mounted to the inner fender well is an 85 Dodge voltage regulator. There are a few write ups on how to add it to your charging system and it works great

SmthnD1ff
C101 delete is almost finished, just have to finish soldering. Then I plan to go through every wire and remove every crimped connection and splice, solder and heat shrink them.

SmthnD1ff
As for the new harness progress is slow but steady. The ECU harness is pretty much done. I'm still mapping out the diagram for the PDC. You can't rush electrical work...
