Fernando87mj Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 anybody know what could be causing a weird clicking sound while driving.??
ScottJeep Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Spring retainer on the caliper has is most likely hitting your rim. Use stick on weights? Ask me how I know :)
Fernando87mj Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 how do you know ?? also is that also for 2wd models (not alot of knowledge on cars :hmm: :???: )
HOrnbrod Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Could be several things. OP, have you tried to jack it up and spin the wheel and look/listen?
Geonovast Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 My XJ started making a nasty clicking sound one morning on my way home from work, was definitely from the front, left side. Wasn't there while moving, and clicked faster the faster I went. U-joints were fine, truck drove fine, braked fine. Determined it was a rock stuck in the tread.
mvusse Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 If 4wd could be a bad front axle shaft u joint.
Fernando87mj Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 no it's 2wd so no u joint , going to get it checked on tomorrow
ScottJeep Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Good Luck. Since you asked. I know because I just bolted up a set of new tires/wheels I scored from my buddy ( THANKS P.S. ) and almost immediately noticed this....click, click, click from the left front...Pulled the wheel the wheel had a double layer of stick on weights.... the spring on the caliper was scraping the double stacked weights....so I swapped it with the wheel from the back. :)
Fernando87mj Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I doubt that could be the problem because the clicking had just started like a week ago and also I have 1 year old jeep wrangler sport rims and tires w/ a wheel spacer and don't think it would be scraping against it but you know any things possible .
carnuck Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Re-check the wheel nut torque. Spacers have been known to come loose.
