TheDirtyJeep401
I couldn't find one, but does anyone have a write up on how to install a Shift linkage for a 4x4 swap? Seems like the only thing I don't know how to hook up. Probably just simple and I'm just over looking it. Thanks in advance.
xjrev10
I know Ben (neohic) did something custom and extremely simple with his. Hopefully he will respond and show you a picture.
neohic
What I did was get rid of all the extra crap that has no business being in there. I've done a couple linkages like this now and they work great! There was a write up on here a while ago that I pulled inspiration from... of course I can't find it right now though. ParadiseMJ
Dang, that looks simple enough even for me. Hardware store, threaded rod (or is that 2 bolts welded?), a couple of ball/johnny joint type swivels and some nylon washers with nuts. Right?? Rockfrog
I'm working on the same deal for both my XJ (trail rig/DD) and my MJ when I convert it. really it's just extending the stock shift arm below the body and either making or using a different range selector arm on the 'case. I'm getting some custom arms cut but a YJ or S10 arm works just as well

Looks like the arm connected to the hand lever is extended, that's the part I'd need more info on.

The lever from the shifter was extended down so the linkage was more in line to the transfer case. Also, I cut and tweaked the angle of the little arm on the t-case. Easy, easy. TheDirtyJeep401
Wow, that is a simple way. Can you get all that stuff cheap from the hardware store??

AeroNautical
Could you give a little more info on the extended arms? Or better yet a writeup explaining it all, so when someone months from now needs shifter linkage and look through DIY, yours would shine.
ParadiseMJ
Actually, our ACE hardware has all that stuff.;..
desertmike
Posted this before but here goes again. Don't know who invented this technique but this is the one I use. http://www.bsfab.net/?p=26 Done this several times and works great. Got the parts from McMaster Car. Under $20 IIRC. TheDirtyJeep401
The funny part is, i went over to look at my friends mustang, and his throttle is set up almost the exact same set up as the shift linkage you made. :laughin:
johnny quest
i used the t-case shift linkage from Froehlich Susupension Technology, and then got some stuff from Home Depot and got the whole thing together for under $
