jimoshel
Is there a bug in CC? For the last 3-4 days I have been getting constant pop ups in CC. from FLV player urging me to join, upgrade. I used McAfee, Norton and MS trying to remove it to no avail. Tonight I resorted to restore going back over a month. Had to reload Mozella Fire Fox. Ran several other apps with no pop up. Signed in to CC and there it is. Not as big or flashy as it was before restore but still there. Can one of the puter geeks here check this out and see what's going on? earl*t
It's probably connected to the government shutdown.
ParadiseMJ
If you google (or bing etc.) "FLV Malware fix" you might be able to find a fix...usually you can download the fix (for alot malware) on to a thumb drive and then restart you computer to boot up with that thumb drive. I had some malware that completely froze up my box, telling me that I could be arrested and jailed for all the kiddie porn and terrorist activity on my hard drive :brows: . I fixed it just like above. The local computer shop wanted $260 to "remove" the virus/malware.
jimoshel
One of The first things I did when this first started happening was Google 'FLV, FLV Player." The first answer claimed that it was just a upgrade and wouldn't hurt anything. The second answer claimed that the FLV player itself was harmless but there was an untold number of bad things attached to it that would screw up my puter. Nothing like accurate, reliable sources of information. Gonna try try your suggestion on Google malware flv fix. We'll see.
HOrnbrod
Jim, Norton sucks. Try downloading Malwarebytes (free edition), update it, then do a full scan on your hard drive. It's a great malware program and has removed everything that I've come across for years. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
GirsMJ86
Yea, the general consensus is to stay away from McAfee or Norton. AVG or Avast are what we use in the office and even what my uncle recommends who is the security guy for a big company out in AZ. Then use Malwarebytes on top of one of them for increased malware protection. To the topic though, I've had no issues on my Win7 PC, OSX hackintosh, iPhone 4s, or Note 2. So something must be up on your end.
jimoshel
Don. Down loaded and tried your suggestion.Took 20 minutes to get working what with all the pop ups and everything. It found 97 problems including 2 Trojan horses a 14 Malwares. However it did not fix the problem. I'm still getting the FLV pop up and only getting it in Comanche Club. HOrnbrod
If you reboot and it's still pops (obviously it is) it could be loaded as a startup program. Try this: Click on the START button, then RUN, then type in MSCONFIG. Click on the STARTUP tab and look to see if anything is labeled FLV, then disable it and reboot. Also check the SERVICES tab while you're in MSCONFIG for anything labeled FLV and disable it. If there's nothing there in the MSCONFIG window, go to Control Panel / Uninstall A Program. Look through the list for a program called "DealPly". If you see it, uninstall it.
GirsMJ86
Also, what browser are you using? If you have multiple, does it happen in them all or only one?
jimoshel
Think I may have got it. Been on this half of last night and a couple hours this AM.When I would go to 'Tools' 'add ons ' or EXT I would look for something specific like Babylon, This morn I went to tools, ext and disabled or removed everything that I wasn't using. IT'S GONE. Now I'm going to go back and enable them, one at a time and that should tell which one it is. It's a good thing. At first it would only pop up in Comanche Club. Then it spread to Craigslist.Geez what a pain in the butt. Using Mozella Firefox Ver24 I think it is. Was also getting it with Google Chrome. Never tried IE. I don't even have IE on the puter. A little disagreement me and Bill Gates went thru awhile back.
maddzz1
It may be from a toolbar/search bar that u loaded by accident. Spent many hours fixing the computer at my work after this happened. Had to remove the files individually from IE, Firefox, and chrome. here's a great link shows how to check and remove it (the search/toolbar can have a different name but all basically from conduit): Whenever you download a video player or something and its says regular(recommended) or custom, choose custom. The only difference when you click custom is you can stop it from loading annoying toolbars. Also, I like super antispyware better than malwarebytes. I've run it after malware bytes and its found over 100 things that malware missed.
