thejim42
When I put my console in I didn't bother putting the rear brackets in. Console doesn't move so I wasn't concerned about it. But some people put the mounts in
IronManche87
I had to trim the front to fit with the floor vent.pic- Hi jeepsouth! It appears as though your picture didn't get saved after the server switch unfortunately... But do you somehow happen to have a picture of how you trimmed the very front to fit the full console without swapping vents by chance?? That's what I was thinking or a dremel lol just was wondering if you were winging the angle or if you used a trick to get the proper angle/cutSent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

But am going to check tomorrow. Was hoping to just cut the xj console enough to fit snug and either block the original vents and "create" my own on the sides of the vent box but doubt it will work was just hoping someone else might have done something similar? Thanks for the link though much appreciated! Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk
HOrnbrod
I used the XJ diffuser when I put my console in years ago, and pop-riveted a plastic block off plate to cover the discharge ports going into the console. You sure don't need to waste heated/cooled air by blowing it into the console.

I was thinking blocking off the vent into the console and diverting it on each side of the xj diffuser to still have foot heating if possible.Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk
HOrnbrod
I just blocked off the ports that went into the console. The side discharge vents were unaffected. I did notice the p/n for the 91 and up discharge duct was different than the earlier one, so maybe the design is different. Also the duct is different between the console and non-console vehicles. Didn't the XJs with the long console have a molded duct that runs inside the console to direct air to the outlet at the rear of the console? I'm going from vague memory -- my '88 XJ has the mini-console, so I can';t use that as an example.

I like having some heat come out the back closer to where I'm sitting, also use it as a hand warmer (right hand only.)
