T-Case Swap Question

Will my 98 xj t-case (2wd/4wd version) 5 speed manual/ 4.0 bolt up to a 99 xj aw4 auto/4.0 t-case (also 2wd/4wd version)

 

I just seem to remember one is 21 and one is 23 spline but hoping otherwise.

IIRC, everything after '90 is 23 spline.  http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np_nvg_input_gears.htm

Good chance the input shaft will not be long enough to reach the seal in the auto.

For swapping parts you can use car-part.com

There is no call out for auto or manual for 97-01 Cherokees.

So it'll work.

Also 6 cylinders from 91 are 23 spline.

4 cylinders are 21 spline.

4 cyl autos are 23 spline (short on early  3 speed and long on '96 up 4 speed)
