Tires On A 2.5

I'm getting ready to get new tires and was wanting to put 31x10.50R15 on my Comanche. It is a 86 2.5 with 3;55 gears. just wondering if some one has done it before and get some recommendations for tire sizes. I want to get some beefy tires, not street tires. Thanks

I have 31 x 10.5 x 15 BFG AT's that I like. I am running 4.10's and both in town and on the highway it doesn't feel under-powered.

 

The only thing will be you might need a little lift for clearance

don't have to lift it to fit 31s just maybe the lower control arms swapped. 

Is it sluggish going up hills?

No I have lots of power,,,,but again mine is geared lower.

 

If you can get away with out the lift great ( I installed V8 ZJ coils in the front for extra clearance. 

 

Sits nice now.

i have.55 gears and could spin my 31x10.5 all terrains when i had them. but when i went to 32x11.5 mud claws i lost alot of power. so id say 31s are the biggest u wana go stock

Dude mine Its an 86 2.5 same as yours, not sure in the gears thoe, and uphill it does feel underpower. Running 31x10.5x15 michelin AT LTX, and I love how it looks!

Feels good, just as I mentioned b4, when driving a slope , it kinda goes underpowerd. But aside from that pretty solid.

No..... never touched the rear

I daily drove mine for a while with 3.55s and 31x10.50s then I went to 33x12.50s still with 3.55s.

 

The 31s were fine,but the 33s sucked.

 

I'm now at 4.88s with the 33s

No it seemed to go up hills fine, I never drove it on stock size tires so I'm not sure what the difference would be..

 

I did lots of mountain driving with no issues.
