Comanchecatcher
Hey ther I'm having a dillema i have an 86 junk manche with what appears to have a 3-4" lift on it and i am wondering can i take the front coils off of that and put them on the front of my stock 87'? and i know that i need new shocks if i lift it. So give me an opion do you think that a comanche lifted about 3-4 inches in front will look good?
jimoshel
How do you know for sure the springs are whats' giving it the lift and not spacers?
Comanchecatcher
Well the springs are red which is not stock i soppose and there are no spacers i checked.
nitroxsteve
My 3" kit with an add-a-leaf only raised the rear 1" and it sits about level and looks good. I would put the front springs on and see how it looks and if it needs alittle in the back put some longer shackles on the back.

Geonovast
Aerodynamically ridiculous as well. I lifted one of mine about an inch when I did the 4wd swap (just threw on 4.0 coils), and it definitely handled differently.

I agree completely. It will also make it handle atrociously.
comanchedude
Why just lift the front? why not use the rear lift from the 86 as well... did I miss something? as for just liftng the front....nahh..
ParadiseMJ
I've seen trucks with the front higher than the rear and said "why?"....I've also said "that looks lame". To each his own but you asked if it would look good...I say no, I personally like the stock rake on the MJ.
Comanchecatcher
The 86' is a longbed.....would the leafs work on a shortbed?

nitroxsteve
The reason I mentioned testing it first with just the front is that when I installed my lift I got 3" up front but the AAL only gave me 1" in the back and the back is still about 1.5" taller than the front. I figured his front springs may be sagged a little if they are old. Then he could lift the back to match. I don't like the nose high look myself. Geonovast
Was it an XJ AAL?
nitroxsteve
Yep from rusty's and the PO changed the rear end out with one from an 86 so who knows what rear spring I have in there.LOL
Geonovast
Yeah, XL AALs only give about half, or less, of their advertised lift on an MJ. XJ and MJ leaves are really different.
92tanMJ
I lifted mine in the front and not in the rear. But only put in a 2 inch BB to level it out some because mine had more of a factory lean than rake. IMO I think it looks good, but 3 or 4" would be going full retard on it. So mine has like 1" lift in the front. (taking out the 1" lift from the coil overs in the rear I have) So add 2 or 3" to the front of mine and thats what yours will look like.
