zackcj7 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I really didn't really expect replacing the valve cover gasket on my '88 to be an all day job... What a pain. The Felpro Perma Dry Plus gasket fell right into place. But I had to remove the top radiator hose from the thermostat housing to get the cover to line up. Then it took me over a hour to get the rear bolt started. To top it all off the CCV hose fell apart when I removed it from the valve cover so now I have to wait for a replacement before I can even test it out. I did find out that a mini shop vac works great for removing sludge from the rocker area.
relyt120 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 at least you didnt bust three bolts like i did  btw that red looks good
zackcj7 Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 The bolts came out easily. Some a little too easily. I had a can of red high temp paint on the shelf so I just went with it. It turned out pretty well.
neohic Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I love that gasket. I've done a couple of them recently and every time I go in to get a gasket I have to argue with the parts store jockey that I do indeed want to spend $40 on a gasket instead of $10 for the cork. :shake: Never had any issues with leaking and they're reusable.
