Keyav8r
88 MJ w/air - Does anyone have part numbers and a source for the three short heater hoses at the firewall. One is a short straight hose, one end 5/8" inside diameter, other end 3/4" inside diameter, goes from the tee to the upper heater core tube. Second is an L shaped hose, 5/8" inside diameter both ends, goes from the valve to the lower heater core tube. I could probably just use 5/8" hose and bend it for this one but would rather have the formed hose. Third is also L shaped, 5/8" inside one end, 7/8" inside diameter other end, goes from tee to the bottom of the pressure bottle.
onlyinajeep726
Just by generic heater hose from the parts store and cut it to length. I don't think there is a specific part number for those hoses, and if there is, it's probably no longer carried.
64 Cheyenne
:agree: Then buy one of these: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/53098/10002/-1 and make a closed system, do away with the pesky pressure tank. Kind of a PIA to get the hose one the one side because it tapers, but it is doable.

The inline filler neck you linked would make it an open system. But to the OP, yes, convert the ol' girl to open cooling if you're going through and replacing hoses. You'll be glad you did. gl1200aman
www.teamcherokee.com has the complete 87-90 oem hose kit with the metal T for $55.95 plus S&H. I have purchased this in the past and the hoses are preformed (curved) and have the different sized ends as needed.
Keyav8r
Thanks. Didn't want to spend that much but may have to do that to get it running and sell it.
ftpiercecracker1
Just go the junkyard and pull the heater hoses off of a 97+ cherokee. Heater valve nonsense is deleted and they are a direct fit.
ajohnson928
The link isn't working for me. What part was linked? I've got a crack forming in my pressure bottle and am going to need to do something... :agree: Then buy one of these: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/53098/10002/-1 and make a closed system, do away with the pesky pressure tank. I've got a crack forming in my pressure bottle and am going to need to do something... This is the one I got. Just splice the upper radiator hose and put this in. Then grab the heater hoses off of a '91+ XJ/MJ and boom... open cooling. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000COS5OW/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also, the picture Amazon provides for the above item is not what it looks like in reality. Each end is the same size and it's the correct size for our upper radiator hose.
ajohnson928
What did you use for the overflow when you did the conversion? What improvements did you see?
64 Cheyenne
I bought a universal from Summit racing, I've heard of people using Mountain dew bottle or old oil jug. Improvement: don't have to rely on a mass of hoses and a questionable plastic cap to maintain pressure in the system. Last Jeep I bought, had a new water pump, paid $100 for the jeep, PO said it had bad head gasket... the black tape on the pressure bottle told me otherwise... Highly recomend an open conversion whichever way you choose to do it.
onlyinajeep726
What did you use for the overflow when you did the conversion? What improvements did you see? View my build thread on CherokeeForum. Give it about 2-3 minutes to load (more if you have slow internet). I have tons and tons of pictures. I explained how I did it. But to answer your question, I used a '91+ XJ overflow tank and moved the relay center over and relocated the ignition coil. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/my-88-w-i-p-work-progress-127477/#post1601315 Also, note that in the pictures, I had a standard open style radiator, however, that is since been changed out due to a leak. I got the Moroso inline filler neck later on since I got a free closed style 2-row CSF to replace the leaking open one.
