Thomas
Got my OBA set up done! I can fill my 33s from 10-30 psi in under a minute! ! I'll post pics tomorrow when it's brighter. I'm pretty excited to see how it does on the trail :)
ComancheKid45
I like the setup of this truck alot! Great job
Thomas
Thanks! I think its turning out alright considering i paid 200 for the truck  Here is some pics of my OBA, it works surprisingly well! I can fill the 5 gallon tank in no time, and i can fill each 33" tire in under a minute from 10-30 PSI! I used the AC compressor as my pump, and i used an inline air tool oiler filled with ATF to oil the compressor. I couldnt find any fittings that would work to thread onto the stock compressor and an air fitting so i just welded the quick disco straight to the compressor fitting. I just used a stock switch on the dash to turn it on and off so it looks clean. the compressor switch isnt the blue toggle switch, thats my torque converter lock up, the compressor switch is the one right next to it...I don't know how to describe it too well but here's some pics! and i only have about 75 bucks into it!! Thomas
I got a matching set of tons from a 77 F250 with 4.10s, flat top knuckles, 8 lug and the bigger hubs for 100 bucks for both front and rear! I got a steal! ! I'll post pics of them shortly.
mnkyboy
How does one get "tons" from a 3/4 ton truck? I imagine a D60 front is possible, most were D44 front and D60 rear.

"Snowfighter" packages had 60s front and rear. They where F250s.
mnkyboy
I've read about them but I don't think I've ever seen one.
Thomas
There technically 3/4 ton..the rear is a Dana 60 and the front is a 44 but it is 8 lug and has the bigger hubs and stuff...and flat top knuckles which I may end up doing high steer on. I'll try to get pics up tonight I kinda spaced it before
mnkyboy
Nice, that's the same front axle that I'm getting ready to swap into my MJ. I'm most likely doing a 14bolt rear though since I already have one laying around.
Thomas
I actually had a rear Dana 60 out of a 77 dodge so I asked the guy of I could buy just the front axle and be said yes for 100 bucks, and when I got there he asked if I would take both of them, so I told him I didn't have enough cash on me so he offered to take both for 100 bucks! Then I sold my rear axle I already had for 75 so I basically paid 25 bucks for the axles :D I think that's a damn good deal! !
mnkyboy
77 was a split year, is your front HP or LP? Either way that's a great deal.
Thomas
Sadly its a low pinion :fs1: but its still going to work just fine!! I loaded and unloaded them with my engine hoist...and DAMN there heavy suckers! look how much it was sagging! getting the front end ready for new brakes and cleaning it up
mnkyboy
Mines a High pinion but I didn't get quite the deal you did.
Thomas
Are you keeping yours linked or doing leafs for the swap? I think I'm just going to do leafs in the front to keep it simple and they seem to work pretty well on other rigs. Another reason I am thinking of it is that the spring perches on my axle are the same width as my frame :D ...that and it will be significantly cheaper! mnkyboy
I'm going to build a 3 or 4 link,I'm not a fan of leafs on the front of a rig. If you can do it yourself a 3 link is cheap, I just did a YJ and I am in it about $300.
Thomas
I probably could do it myself but I only have a 110 welder so building links and welding brackets to the axle worries me a bit. I'm a good welder, I just don't know if it's powerful enough! And I don't really want to buy a radius long arm kit to much. It's a possibility but I don't love radius arms much :P

Thomas
these axles have proven to be a major pain in the rear...they are off of a 77 f250 highboy. my problem is the calipers. when i bought them they didnt have calipers or pads so i ordered calipers and pads from rock auto...they didnt fit. so i contacted the guy i bought the axles from and he said calipers from and 80s f250 would work, so i returned the calipers i had and ordered some for an 88...they also don't work. i have gone to multiple parts stores locally and non of the pics of the calipers they stock look right...I'm hoping someone on here will have some knowledge about ford axles!! here's what I'm dealing with...if you know what calipers will work i would LOVE if you got a link of the calipers i need!! thanks! Thomas
So i got a 20 foot long piece of 1x6x1/4" steel for 80 bucks!! So I'm using it for rockers, after looking at it for a while i decided to go all out and do mini boat sides, which brings us to where I'm at now! I'm debating cutting even farther up and re doing my floor and everything while I'm at it. Here is pics of where it sits right now I have to cut out the pinch seam regardless of what I do to make get the clearance i gained from the rockers to make it worth it anyway. So that is where my problem.. any ideas???

Thomas
there is an 89 Comanche on CL for 500 bucks! I'm debating getting it and have it just as a clean DD once i get it fixed up, and ill sell the Cherokee...i regret selling my grey DD Comanche every time i get into my Cherokee haha. The goods about it: short bed, ax15, 4WD, no rust, clean body...the bad: 210000 miles, may need head gasket, and does need clutch. I figure even if i put 500 into it i have a nice Comanche for 1000 bucks. What do you guys think?? here is a link to it: http://twinfalls.craigslist.org/cto/4238027926.html ill of course keep the wheels/ tires from the Cherokee and throw them on the Manche.
