TheDirtyJeep401
Going to get some parts off of a cherokee, does anyone know if a 98 cherokee rear drive shaft will fit a 86 longbed for a 4x4 conversion?
87manche1
Won't work for a short bed so doubt long bed

jimoshel
A rubber drive shaft will have 8-10 inches of stretch. It might work.
Geonovast
A rubber drive shaft will have 8-10 inches of stretch. It might work. XJs didn't have the rubber isolator, so no go with that. You can basically forget any rear XJ shafts. It's been contemplated that certain 2wd XJ shafts may work in 4wd MJ applications, but I haven't seen any comparable measurements. You're going to be better off having yours hacked down than spending time, energy, and money into finding one that'll work.

Thats what I was thinking, i was just wondering a guy is parting a cherokee out and he is selling stuff off of it CHEAP in my opinion. Just thought that if it worked id snatch it up. Geonovast
Does this 98 XJ happen to be a 5 speed?
mvusse
I have a driveshaft (unless I threw it out already) out of a 2wd Cherokee 4.0/AW4. I can measure the length if I still have it.

Geonovast
I think the only thing she needs is an AC hose... but isn't that big of a deal since I've been running without it hooked up for 2 years and basically forgot I had AC..

TheDirtyJeep401
Ah, the one he had was a 98 and the shifter seemed to be closer to the dash then a 96. But anyway, the center you have, is the style I want.
