GummiBeer
Hey Guys, I was just given a set of power seats out of a 88 Xj wagoneer. Problem is...i got a bench in my Mj and i really want these in there. So i can't switch brackets, but can i just drill new holes?? anyone know what my best option is? Oizarod115
the power seats are going to sit really high in the cab.. so i'd say if you're 6' and up you won't like it. or you'll be modifying the brackets to make it lower. i've got XJ buckets, what you do is cut the bucket off its bracket (leaev it on the sliders) and take the brackets off the bench and put the bench brackets on the XJ sliders. that should do her. Pete M
The Power seats come with an integrated floor bracket and track assembly. The MJ floor isn't as flat as the XJ and so trying to get it in their with functional power controls is going to be hard. :(

GummiBeer
not overly worried about the seats sitting high, I'm only 5'7". You guys are sugesting just get rid of the power all together and just use the bench brackets and mount them up that way??
JeepcoMJ
i say you have the power brackets, tear out the mj bench, cut off the bolts, figure out how to center and level the power brackets, drill holes and bolt them in. weld the bolts on the under side, wire power and ground, and call it a day. i'd LOVE to have power seats

HOrnbrod
I've been wrestling with the MJ power seat question for some time. Have converted everything else on my MJ to power and added other creature comforts (mirrors, windows, door locks, cruise, delay wipers, power slider, etc.) but have still not figured out a good way to power the seats. Certain MJ's did in fact come with power seats, notably some Eliminators and Laredo models, and I'm still looking for some of these seat brackets, which I will find sooner or later (probably much later). Only then will I convert to power seats. Do not want to fab, weld, or modify XJ brackets to fit, or drill my floor, but of course you can do what you want. I can count the times I've needed my adjust the seats on one hand, and then only the set back on longer trips. Not a high-pri at this time, but if I can find the correct brackets, I'll do it in a heartbeat.

HOrnbrod
power slider? please elaborate! Came from CR Lawrence here: http://www.crlaurence.com/ProductPages/ ... ml?Origin= But I think it's an obsolete part now. I never use it though anymore since I put the camper shell on the back. Real nice option at -40 C. -40 C?? AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGH. Reminds me of when I was growing up in Burlington, VT, and they had the daily winter leather seat degree report on one of the local radio stations. The volume of the shrieks the announcer made while setting his arse on the seats was directly proportional to the temperature. Since I'm in Alabama now, no worries about that. But hooking up the seat heating elements should be no problem. Is the heat control switch separate from the seat movement controls? If not, you could use an unused dash switch, or get an XJ switch panel w. the rear defroster switch and use that for the seat heater switch. Even has an indicator light. I use this switch for rear fog lights.
jeepdoggydogB
There was a Laredo truck for sale some months back on ebay with the gray exterior and maroon interior. It had electric windows and seats with the selectrac transfer case. Lots of close interior shots and if it was a fab job that one looked to be done right. I emailed the seller and he said it was from the factory that way but wasn't the original owner, but it had too much rust for my liking. Never could verify (Didn't want to pay for a carfax) if it came from the factory that way or who did the mod. When you get the XJ buckets installed please share the mod as electric XJ buckets are plentiful in junk yards. Like some of us one of my dreams is finding an old MJ with Factory electrics, but I keep waking up before I can close the deal. ;)
